Founded in 2024, Add an Apron is a slow fashion brand by artist Adéọlá.
Collaborating with designer Genaya Parris and local subcontractors, we promote apron as fashion accessory.
We are excited by ways of amplifying hand painted works by providing scarves, art prints and bespoke hand painted design services.
Our Story
Add an Apron has her roots in my art practice. Following a divorce in 2017, my artwork began to change - from painting on canvas, to painting on hessian fabric. I invited women to wear the fabric as aprons, photographed them and then continued painting on the printed images. The process of adorning women and seeing the transformation, was the seed.
I imagine that everyone can own a fashion apron. In many ways this art helped me through a challenging time. If this brand can bring a smile and uplift more than an outfit, this journey would have been worth it! In the meantime, I do what I know best - I paint. May she continue to find her tribe.
